Start with a clean source
Use a square image with enough detail for the largest output. A transparent PNG makes it easier to blend your emote into both light and dark chat.

Check the small preview
Frame your subject and look closely at the 28 px result. Simplify tiny text or thin details in your source artwork if they disappear at chat size.

Match each upload field
Download and extract the ZIP. If using manual upload on Twitch, place the 28, 56, and 112 px files in their corresponding fields.
Twitch’s static emote workflow offers two ways to prepare an image. With manual upload, you supply three square PNG files: 28 by 28, 56 by 56, and 112 by 112 pixels. The editor on this page produces that complete set from one crop, so you do not have to create three separate documents in a graphics application.
Twitch also offers auto-resize for eligible image uploads. Its official formatting guide specifies a single square PNG between 112 by 112 and 4096 by 4096 pixels for that workflow. The upper value is an accepted source dimension, not an extra manual-upload size. Always check the controls in your Creator Dashboard to see which upload method you are using.
Dimensions are only one part of a usable emote. A face that looks detailed on a large canvas can lose its expression after reduction. Judge the small preview first, especially around eyes, mouth shapes, and thin outlines. If your source is smaller than the largest output, enlarging it will not recreate missing detail. Return to a higher-resolution original whenever possible.
Transparency is separate from size. Our exporter preserves transparent pixels in the crop and writes PNG files, but it does not remove an existing background. If you begin with a photograph, isolate the subject in an image editor first when you want a clean cutout. Check the finished PNG on contrasting backgrounds to spot pale edges or nearly invisible outlines.
Subscriber badges use their own set of dimensions, shown in the reference table above. Do not rename an emote file and assume it becomes a correctly sized badge. The current tool exports static emotes only. Animated emotes have a separate workflow and additional requirements, so this guide’s PNG export should not be used as an animation converter.

What are the exact Twitch emote sizes?
For static emotes using manual upload, Twitch specifies square PNG files at 28 × 28, 56 × 56, and 112 × 112 pixels. The exporter on this page creates all three sizes.
Can I upload one large emote instead?
Twitch’s auto-resize workflow accepts one square PNG between 112 × 112 and 4096 × 4096 pixels according to its official formatting guide. Check that auto-resize is enabled in your upload workflow.
Are Twitch badge sizes the same as emote sizes?
No. Subscriber badges use 18 × 18, 36 × 36, and 72 × 72 pixels. This page lists them for reference, but its exporter creates emote sizes, not badge sizes.
Why does my resized emote look blurry?
Very small images cannot retain every detail from large artwork. Use a sharp source, keep the main expression large in the frame, and avoid fine lettering. Enlarging a tiny original does not recover detail.
Does a correctly sized PNG guarantee acceptance?
No. Follow Twitch’s current formatting and content requirements as well as the dimensions. The tool creates static PNG files; it does not submit your emote or guarantee platform approval.
